Moving into a smaller house with cozy little rooms meant trading
our nine foot tall Christmas tree for a smaller seven foot tree...
that's seven feet including the pot!
I don't miss having to get the ladder out to trim the top few feet but
its narrow profile seems almost too small for the space. But
it's still beautiful wrapped in my favorite candlestick lights and all
dressed up with red and white ornaments and branches of berries.
My favorite ornaments on this tree are the ones that depict the
Names of Jesus. This one remind me that He is The Gift of God
coming down from heaven to save us from our sins... oh to
remember that this is what Christmas is all about!
The crown proclaims that Jesus didn't just become a king but
He was born a King... the King of all Kings... worthy to be
worshipped and adored.
And the dove speaks to our hearts that He is the Prince of Peace
who fills our hearts with a peace that passes all understanding...
even when our world is crazy and cruel.
And then there's this little 3 ft. tree on the counter in the kitchen...
the one that honors past Christmases and special memories.
When Michelle got married, I gave her quite a few ornaments that
were her favorites... but I kept a few for myself as well.
This little angel has always made me smile.
Michelle made this star for Christmas when she was 11 years old!
She saw it a couple of days ago and wondered why we ever parted
her hair down the middle! LOL I think she's adorable!
Does anyone else remember the days of making faces from old
nylons? Oh my... does anyone even wear nylons anymore?
And this little Raggedy Ann ornament was made for me by Janice,
my best friend growing up. She must have given her and Andy to
us more than 30 years ago... wow!
Homemade ornaments... even when they were made from a kit still
remind me of the years when Michelle was a little girl and we spent
our Christmas season baking and making things together.
Special times. This one must be 35 years old!
And this is a very special memory... Mike's mom made these beaded
ornaments for us about 16 years ago, before she passed away.
Each ornament framed a family member at the time... this one is of
her. She is dearly missed, but her ornaments honor her every year!
So I wonder if I came to your house what wonderful stories you would
share with me about the ornaments on your tree? What a delightful
time we would have chatting and eating Christmas cookies together!
And speaking of... I'm off to bake my first Christmas cookies
tonight! I was going to start with my Hidden Kisses Cookies but my
sweet hubby has been nibbling on the kisses while I've been writing
to you, so I might have to start with the Chocolate Crinkles instead.
YUM!!
Oh, taste and see... God is good!
Blessings and Christmas hugs...
