I just had to share my lilacs with you! It seems like a miracle to beholding this beautiful lilac arrangement because this is the first year our lilacs have bloomed even though we've had one of the bushes for six years.
Every year, even though we would spray it... sometimes too late... with a fungicide, it would bud real pretty and then before it could bloom the flowers would just turn brown and droop over and die. Every year I would come so close to tears. At first people told us they just got frosted. Others said it was too much rain... duh... we live in the Northwest! So we've been spraying for the past four years and this is the first year any of them have bloomed and now they are ALL BLOOMING!!

Paper flowers are nice, but there's nothing like the real thing. =0)
Love lilacs and glad yours bloomed.
Blessings,
Barbara jean

I think the ground needs to be more alkaline I think?
Some fertilizers cause them not to bloom.
They might like more drainage like
being planted on a slope. I don't
think they like wet so much.
I had one that took years before it
finally bloomed. After I didn't live
there anymore. lol!
You might look up info online or get
a book at the library on how best to
grow them.
I love lilacs. There is one in a park
not far from me that a limb had broke.
I took one of the blossoms off it but it
didn't smell as sweet. It wasn't fully open.
It was pretty just the same though.
God Bless You and Yours and Your
Creative Life and Business!!!

Karla, I can feel your pain and now your excitement! Your blooms are gorgeous! My husband gave me a lilac 5 years ago for Mother's Day. It has yet to bloom! Folks have told me that lilacs need to be planted in pairs for mating. I've recently planted several lilac shoots from a friend's bush in the general area of the original lilac. We'll see if they get together and bloom!

My favorite flowers are lilacs!! I love everything about them. Each year I say I'm going to plant my own bush and then I don't do it, I told my husband this is the year! I just hope I don't have to wait so long for them to bloom. Thanks for sharing!

You've reminded me...for a few days I've told my little man, while going in and out of the driveway, that I want to pick some lilacs for our table. Every day...I have forgotten, unless we're in and out of the driveway.
I think I might just go outside RIGHT NOW and do this.
Thank you, Karla :o)
Oh and I'm praising The Lord with you - woo hoo for lilacs this year :o)

We also are having a flower miracle. After five barren years, our wisteria is overflowing with blooms! It was worth the wait. Isn't that just the way God works in our lives?

How gorgeous they are. Lilacs are my favorite but I hear they are finicky and take a long time to bloom. Glad yours have come into their time. Enjoy them.

Hi Karla!
All I could think of when I saw your beautiful lilacs is a song we used to sing. I don't know who wrote it but here is how it goes:
"Ain't God good? To give us so many blessings, undeserving, that's what we are. We ought to thank Him, love and praise Him. A little more today, a whole lot more tomorrow."!
Thank you for sharing your awesome artwork and your beautiful heart and the love of God.
